The Ryzen 5 7600X

AMD’s Ryzen 5 7600X targeted for the budget segment of the market packs a punch with its 6 core / 12 thread configuration. The base clock out of the box is rated at 4.7GHz which can be pushed to 5.3GHz. Being priced at just $299, you sure are getting a bang for the buck. Although, many still fear that 6 cores priced at $300 is rather ironic by AMD themself.

Geekbench Testing

Starting off, the motherboard featured is the MEG X670E ACE which is currently not available to the market. The CPU is paired with a rather strange 27.65GB of RAM. As for the clocks, the minimum clocks are rated at 5.32GHz which go as high as 5.39GHz. The CPU scores 2092 single-core points which is insane by itself. This essentially is faster than the i9-12900K and even than a few ‘leaked’ Raptor Lake CPUs. Let us give you a performance comparison. The Ryzen 5 7600X is faster than the i5-13600K by around 5-6%. That’s insanely high. However, some results contradict AMD’s IPC gains, on that in a bit. The multi-core score lags behind massively than its peers due to a lower core/thread count. However, the lead against the single core i5-13600K is massive. So, what’s the catch?

The IPC Gains May Not Scale

AMD’s Ryzen 9 7950X is faster than the 13900K (2210 points). However, as I said above, this performance gain is not uniform. In Cinebench R23, the performance metrics for the R5 7600X and the R7 7700X were leaked a few days back. In short, the R5 7600X falls this time lags behind the i9-12900K. Why, you may ask? AMD gave us a reference chart for the IPC gains across various softwares and benchmarking utilities. This means that the microarchitecture is not fully utilized by many softwares as of now. Expect better support in the future, however, this puts a huge question mark for Intel’s Raptor Lake.

Launch Schedule

The Ryzen 7000 CPUs along with the X670 and X670E motherboards will officially be available for purchase on the 27th of September. Those who are interested can pre-order these CPUs starting from the 15th of September. For those on a budget, the lower-mid end B650 chipsets will hit the shelves by the 10th of October.
