As crazy and unbelievable as it sounds, it might be true; a reputable industry insider @TomHenderson has corroborated the claims and confirmed that his sources have looked into the game files of Modern Warfare 2 and found the names of the football stars. Additionally, @TheGhostOfHope has been actively sharing leaks about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 post-launch updates. If this leak about Call of Duty crossover with Football is true, this is a step in a new direction by the studio. Activision has also claimed recently that their studios are working on some ‘Premium Call of Duty Content’ for 2023 and beyond: This statement hints at many new possibilities, and exclusive collaborations with already established entertainment departments could be one of them. I think Activision is taking a Fortnite approach here; Fortnite is famous for its collaborations with trending themes and pop culture icons. These collaborations help them stay relevant and also bring new customizations for the players. However, this concept in the Call of Duty franchise is not entirely new. Activision has already experimented with the model with the Call of Duty: Warzone × Godzilla and King Kong campaigns.
